Alecia Lawyer

Alecia L. Lawyer is the founder, artistic director and principal oboist of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. She received degrees from Juilliard and Southern Methodist University, and her career has ranged from recording for John Cage and soloing with Rostropovich to a contemporary chamber music recital at Carnegie Hall, live radio broadcasts in New York, and disc jockeying for KRTS-92.1FM, Houston, TX. While living in France, she recorded with the Sorbonne orchestra, performed recitals in Paris, and concertized with various orchestras in France and Germany.
Ms. Lawyer currently also performs as an oboist with the chamber groups Musiqa, col canto, and the Foundation for Modern Music in Houston. She appears often as soloist with Houston-area orchestras, and her concerto performances have been broadcast on "Houston in Concert" on KUHF. Alecia and her husband Larry have two fantastic sons, Jacob, 9 and Zachary, 5.
