As a dedicated and persuasive champion of the music of today, Norsworthy has given premieres of over 100 works in collaboration with composers Milton Babbitt, Harrison Birtwistle, Elliott Carter, Chris Dench, Brian Ferneyhough, Michael Finnissy, Lukas Foss, Hans Werner Henze, Magnus Lindberg, Tristan Murail, Ralph Shapey and Marc Anthony Turnage, among many others in leading venues such as Carnegie Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein, Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Hall, Merkin Hall, The Casals Festival and the Aspen Festival. He has recorded for Mode, Gasparo, Canteloupe, Cirrus Music and Cauchemar records and recently premiered concerti by Michael Finnissy, Pozzi Escot and Noel Zahler. He is principal clarinet with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, a member of New York’s Manhattan Sinfonietta, on faculty at the Boston Conservatory and Columbia University and artist in residence at Harvard University.
