Continually praised for her versatility and breadth of repertoire, soprano Tracy Rhodus shines in many genres including opera, oratorio, musical theater, art song, and contemporary art music. Favorite operatic appearances include The Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors) with the Sandra Organ Dance Company, Violetta (La Traviata) and Gilda (Rigoletto) with Bellevue Opera, Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) with Emerald City Opera, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) for H&K Artists Management in New York City, and Fire/Princess/Nightingale (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges) with the Tanglewood Music Center. She has sung frequently for Teatro Grattacielo in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center earning wonderful reviews. Italian newspaper America Oggi called her “The discovery of the evening” and “Marvelously expressive,” and Opera News praised her “silvery soprano gleam.”
Ms. Rhodus has twice been a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions and placed fifth in the nation in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Awards competition. She has premiered works for the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, Foundation for Modern Music, and Houston Composer's Alliance. Edward Reichel of the Deseret Morning News called her performance of Messiaen’s Chants de Terre et de Ciel with Utah Symphony pianist Jason Hardink, “Stunning...dynamic and emotionally charged.” Ms. Rhodus holds a Master of Music degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rice University. She is currently the voice instructor for Houston Grand Opera's High School Voice Studio and teaches in the Vocal Soloist Studies Program at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp.
